What you get
For tax year 2025, the Child Tax Credit is worth up to $2,200 per qualifying child. If you have little or no federal income tax liability, the refundable Additional Child Tax Credit may be up to $1,700 per qualifying child. You must have earned income of at least $2,500 to be eligible for the ACTC.
You qualify for the full Child Tax Credit if your annual income is not more than $200,000, or $400,000 if filing a joint return. Higher incomes may qualify for a partial credit.
Notes
The IRS says a qualifying child generally must be under 17 at the end of the 2025 tax year and meet the other relationship, support, residence, and identification requirements. Claim the credit on Form 1040 with Schedule 8812.
