What it costs

Time to register your phone number, and time to report a call if one comes anyway. The Registry says registration is free.

What you get

The National Do Not Call Registry gives you a choice about whether to receive telemarketing calls, and you can register your home or mobile phone for free. If you get an unwanted call after your number has been on the Registry for 31 days, you can report it to the FTC.

Notes

Registration does not stop every call: the Registry says charities, political groups, debt collectors and survey organizations may still call you. Register at DoNotCall.gov, and report a call that comes after the 31 days are up.
